Alas, Give Me A Mac has been up for a while now but no bites yet. Obviously I could use a new Mac myself (oh the frustrations of being told time and time again that I need an Intel-based Mac to do my work) as this old G4 limps along. However, that’s not my main hope here. My main hope is getting this foundation up and running. There HAS to be some philanthropy-minded folks out there somewhere who think “damn, that’s a good idea. I’d love to be a part of that” and help get this thing off the ground.
I know we’re in a recession and people don’t have spare money or machines to give away. Well, actually people do have that. It’s the middle and lower class that are getting hit especially hard right now. I want to help out the unfortunate. I can’t say I’m super pleased with the situation I’m in right now but I know there are people in a much worse situation. Kids that haven’t even touched a computer, let alone own one. Enterprising young souls that just need the tools in order to succeed. We can do this. I know we can. This is a call to those that want to give everyone a chance out there.
My search for a new Mac for myself continues. My search for a someone who wants to help others also continues. I will not let this idea die. We can impact the lives of others as soon as we can build the underlying infrastructure and then start moving on with our plan. I can’t do it alone. Oh trust me, I’d love to, but it’s just not feasible right now. Let’s do this people!
Speaking of philanthropy and helping various causes, I will be partaking in a fundraising ride for the MS Society. I will be riding my bike 150 miles next weekend (June 27-28) up in Rhode Island to help raise money for research and for those in need. If you’d like to make a donation (which I could still use a few to reach my goal), feel free to go to my donation page and donate what you can. Next year I plan on doing a bunch of rides for cancer as I’ve lost a few family members to cancer in the past few years. Down with cancer I say!
